B. Minutes
1. Approve the minutes of the regular Marine Management Committee Meeting from March 14th, 2006
MOVED BY BROMAGE AND SECOND BY BROWN TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES AS PRINTED FROM 3-14-06 (10-0)
C. New Business
1. Recommendation as to whether or not Wid Mincton's can operate as a Mooring Inspector with hoist capabilities within the Town of Mount Desert.
WID MINCTONS HAS JUST BUILT A BARGE AND HAS REQUESTED TO BECOME A MOORING INSPECTOR. HE HAS EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE… MOVED BY BROWN AND SECOND BY BROMAGE TO APPROVE THE REQUEST (10-0)
2. To consider deleting the language of section 6.8 of the Marine Management Ordinance to read as Maine State law Title 38 M.R.S.A section 3-A.Mooring Transfer permitted by ordinance. The current wording is:
6.8 REGISTRATION NOT TRANSFERABLE
Mooring registrations are not transferable, except that a Town of Mount Desert resident may transfer his mooring to an immediate family member provided that the recipient is a resident of the Town of Mount Desert.
The new wording would read as follows:
§3-A.~Mooring transfer permitted by ordinance
~~~~A municipality may adopt an ordinance that allows the transfer of a mooring assignment used for commercial fishing purposes. The ordinance may permit a mooring assignment to be transferred only at the request or death of the assignee, only to a member of the assignee's family and only if the mooring assignment will continue to be used for commercial fishing purposes. For the purposes of this section, "member of the assignee's family" means an assignee's parent, child or sibling, by birth or by adoption, including a relation of the half blood, or an assignee's spouse.~ [1993, c. 66, §1 (amd).]

HARBORMASTER MURPHY RECOMMENDS THE CHANGES ABOVE TO ALIGN THE HARBOR ORDINANCE WITH STATE REGULATIONS AND AVOID EXPOSURE OF LIABILITY… MOVED BY CROTHERS TO ADOPT THE CHANGES AS LISTED ABOVE, SECOND BY LIEBOW (10-0)

1. Meeting with Army Corps of Engineers is being scheduled for the May 9th MMC Meeting to discuss what their role is concerning Northeast Harbor and any other questions that members/public may have.
MR. MURPHY HOPES TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THIS MEETING AS PLANNED

A REQUEST WAS MADE THAT IF A GUEST IS TAPING A MEETING THAT THE ENTIRE GROUP BE INFORMED
